Jung Kang Miller
About
Jung Kang K. Miller is a tenured Professor in the School of Education at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ University. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in TESOL from New Mexico State University, and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics with a concentration in ESL and Bilingual Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Since joining ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ University in 2018, Dr. Miller has held several leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Department of Literacy and Multilingual Studies for seven years, and beginning in 2024, as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Her research interests include second language acquisition, cross-cultural communication, multilingualism, teacher education, and adult ESL. She has co-directed several grant projects, including the NYSED-funded Clinically Rich Intensive Teacher Institute in ESOL and the federally funded STARTALK Korean language program, aimed at promoting Korean language and culture for both heritage and non-heritage learners.
Dr. Miller teaches graduate courses on second language theories and methods, multiculturalism in education, sociolinguistics and second language acquisition, and clinical practice in TESOL. Her scholarly work includes numerous publications and presentations, with recent research focusing on mentoring in ESOL education. Dedicated to bridging research and practice, Dr. Miller incorporates reflective thinking and inquiry into her teaching.
